lube question
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask what kind of grease/oil everyone is using to lubricate their vehicle. From the service schedule, I see these items: Grease wheel center hubs. Oil hood, trunk/tailgate, and door hinges. Grease hood, trunk/tailgate and door latches. Also - this may be a stupid question - but how do you grease the door latches without getting the car dirty? My guess is that to grease these properly you have to remove a few panels, or am I way off on this one? ~troyounces~ |
The center caps get grease so they don’t make noise, you can use anything you like on those, I have used wheel bearing grease because it's sticky. Door latches and hinges I use white lithium grease. I usually spray the latch with penetrating oil first, then the white grease.
The door latch is the part that is visible when you open the door (on the door side in the jam). It’s the part that makes contact with the striker in the door jam to latch the door closed. |
