BMW Aux Input Quality

So i have a Video Ipod 30gb and i was looking forward to installing the BMW Ipod connection but the dealer informed me since i have NAV and a CD changer that wasn't possible (i have no idea why) but they did say i could install the Aux Input and use my Ipod but when i asked about the quality of the sound dudes response was "honestly i have no idea" So my question, is the quality of sound from the Aux Input as good as the quality of sound from the BMW Ipod connection?

But since my cd changer is a MP3 player, who needs an Ipod connection correct? I currently use 2 cds with about 200 songs on each, so much for a 6 cd changer lol

Dealer is correct regarding the Ipod my BMW interface. Also correct regarding the Aux input but they are 2 different things. The quality is of course subjective but since you have a CD changer that plays MP3's it seems to me like a moot point since your already sacraficing CD quality for MP3. But as to your question "is the quality of sound from the Aux Input as good as the quality of sound from the BMW Ipod connection" I would have to say they are both the same.

I only have the Aux input, and the sound is pretty good, just a lot lower. You have to turn it up to even hear it..:dunno:

.....but you can adjust the input sensitivity using the 1 - 6 preset buttons...

I agree on all of the above. I think the AUX input does a pretty good job.

You can easily install the Icelink or Dice kit but if you want to still use the CD changer you can have a switch put in or a gateway module ( I think thats what it is called) You should contact Tom at European Auto source for advice direct.

I have the same iPod and the icelink and AUX connector but I definitely prefer the Ice link for sound quality plus I can use the steering wheel controls

Has anyone installed a Ground Loop Isolator with their BMW AUX Input? When I plug my mini-disc player into my AUX Input and I change tracks, I get a loud clicking sound coming from my speakers.

I just had the AUX installed in my 4.8is, and the first thing I noticed was the need to crank up the volume on the both the iPod and the stereo. This is great news, and i will try it tonight on my way home! does it make much difference?

John
