X5 4.8is in this months Road & Track
 

This month's R&T Magazine has an article of performance SUV's in it. A comparison of sorts against:

Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Chevy Trailblazer SS
Jeep Cherokee SRT8
Range Rover Supercharged
Infinity FX45
BMW 4.8is

Interesting read if you're into that sort of thing. Surprisingly, the Jeep is the fastest 0-60 and 1/4 mile, besting the Cayenne Turbo. Our friend the 4.8is did ok, but showed its age against its competitors. It did have the fastest speed through the slalom though, which I think is interesting considering it had the worst skidpad g rating.

I also saw that R&T article. There are few comparisons with Cayenne turbo posted here by members who have driven both. They prefer 4.8is to cayenne turbo.

I agree with that one Lemans, that was the other option for me and I opted for the BMW just because the handling is phenomenal.

Think it was a lock the Jeep was the fastest. That SRT-8 can MOOOOVE.

That Jeep is fast.

The Jeep is fast, but I hope they have improved the quality and materials over the last two body styles of Grand Cherokee's I've owned (also a Grand Wagoneer). I have always been a "buy American" guy and got heat from my friends with the X5, but I remind them its "made in America". Barring any revelations, my next car will be a the new X5.

i honestly dont think that the cayenne turbo would literally like blow the 4.8 out of the water from zero to 60. Id wanna race one, im sure id lose but it might be very close in my opinion and if i won, even by an inch ID LOVE IT :)

The difference between 5.3 to 60 and 6.1 to 60 is forever. I've driven both cars, and the Porsche is much faster than the 4.8is. It's as ugly as a moat fish, but it is faster by a decent margin.

It's kind of unfair though, I'd like to see a 4.8is with an SC go against a Cayenne Turbo. Both bringing the same size guns to the fight then.

Isn't the FX45 faster than the 4.8 too?
