Question about upgrading wheels
 

Hey guys... I am a newbie, so go easy on me. I don't even know if this is the right place to post this thread...

Anyway, so I got a used X5 not too long ago. It is a 2004. It does not have the sport-package, so it has the small 17" rims. They are not staggered.

I really like the look of the larger, staggered rims.

So, I was wondering, if I were to try to upgrade to larger, staggered rims, is it a simple matter of removing the old wheels and putting on the new ones? Somehow I doubt it would be that simple... but you never know.

:xoutpost: Yep it's just a matter of switching from 17 to 19's+. There's a lot of people on this board who did the upgrade including me.

Welcome. Sounds like you're on the right track. One thing to keep in mind is that some of the aftermarket replicas require centering rings to get the wheels to fit correctly centered on the F&R hubs. (Factory wheels do not require centering rings.) Make sure your wheels either 1) don't need them or 2) come with them. Good luck!

That's good advice. I assume the replica rims are substantially less expensive? Is the quality comparable?
