I do believe it is more than a deterrent? If someone finds my key they still can't start my engine?

In any case, I'd like to avoid setting it everytime. Here is the documentation I could find.

Yeah thats the same system I was refering too only difference is on a nav screen its accessed differently. Its also not a great system as it can be cancelled very easily by way of disconnecting the battery and re connecting. There is also no way to permanently enable the system without having to enter the code each time you stop and start....

HI GUYS, I'VE GOT A PROBLEM WITH THE CODING SET UP ON MY E39. HOPE YOU CAN HELP!! WHEN KEY ON, THE SYSTEM ASKING FOR CODE (I DON'T HAVE A CODE) TRIED THE EMERGENCY DEACTIVATE,AS PER HAND BOOK, BUT IT SHOULD DEACTIVATE AFTER 10 MINS,INSTEAD TIMER SITS AT 9MINS 59 SECS. GOT 16:9 SO NOT GOT BC FUNCTION. HELP CAR STUCK IN DRIVEWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
