The column mounted shifter is probably similar to the gear selector on the 7 car.

I might be thinking about this too much, but if BMW is coming out with a so-called "crossover" vehicle (more info), what's the use of making the X5 larger/longer/heavier.... :dunno:

If all this speculation holds true, my black beauty is a definite keeper at lease end. I won't even give it a second thought. That spy photo is horrible looking. What is BMW thinking? Why would they cater to the SUV world, when we curently have the best of both worlds....room and major performance. I'm on my second X and it looks like this might be the end of the X road for me. My M3 was great, but I won't get another one. I like the room. Maybe I'll check out a 750i if the urge for a new car strikes...........Phil
