Proper Drivers Seat Position

This may sound like a dumb question, but is their a proper seat postion for the driver? I see in videos of drivers and they seem to be sitting further forward than I do. I guess it comes down to comfort and height, but is there a certain guidline. I just got fitted for my road biccycle so figured their are some guidelines for seat postion.
Heck, there are so many ways to position the seat, one would think it would be programmed into the computer.

Yea the "proper" way is to sit far forward enough so I believe you can have your wrists over the steering wheel without the arm fully extended, yet not too close to the airbag. Do I do that? not all the time.
