transmission reset

I have an 02 X5 3.0i. My transmission has been rough, it seems to jerk around, and it will shift too soon. I have the dinan auto transmission upgrade as well as the engine stage 1 upgrade. I wanted to know if I reset my transmission, will it mess up my dinan transmission upgrade? I want to set a new driving habit for my car. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

How does one go about resetting their transmission? As it would also be useful on a second hand X5? Or does this thing constantly adjust and already has no recollection of the previous owner?

Sorry to sidetrack this a tiny bit.

Don't reset the trans

Check out this training manual. According to the note on page 24 the trans doesn't store driving style. More info in the second manual about shifting paterns.

That reset is to adapt the throttle to the gas pedal. It's not for the trans.

So doing the reset will not effect my dinan software??

It has nothing to do with your trans, so no it won't affect your trans software.

What the reset does is ensure the potentiometers in the gas pedal are matched to the return potentiometers in the throttle valve. If the DME doesn't like what it sees it goes into fail safe mode and limits the RPM to something like 1300 rpm.

These potentiometers are use in concert with the MAF to cross check eachother.
