Any problems with rust ?

I'm considering an 04 pre-owned from up north where the roads are salted in winter. Should I be concerned about rust ?

The only problems people have with rust are ones with aluminum running boards..sometimes.

If you're buying a CPO vehicle, you can probably set aside your fear of rust. Here are the CPO inspection requirements:

Thanks for the link. My concern is that a vehicle may have rust that is not visable initially, but will become a problem later when the CPO warranty is over. I guess what I was looking for is someone who lives in "cold country" and drives their X5 in winter (salted roads). Any problems with rust over the long term ?

I have an '01 4.4i and an '03 4.4i and live in montreal, which has some really cold winters and lots of salt on the roads, havent had any major problems besides the running boards vinuneuro mentioned but with a little precaution it shouldnt be a problem.

And fix any accidents or bad dings/scratches ASAP or you'll regret it in the long run.
