Looks good, why ibright?

Dave@CustomAngelEyes 11-08-2006 02:49 PM

Keep in mind that the new version is 30% brighter than the previous iBright and its on sale now for $335. Shipping to the Ukraine will be $18.

White, red, or blue are all the same price.

x5GuyInLA 11-08-2006 04:43 PM

can we trade in our old flickering, blinking iBrights for the new one?

XXX55 11-08-2006 10:39 PM

skatsuba, nice upgrade. Looks like the X needs a bath hehe :)

ljnlaw 11-09-2006 12:16 AM

Dave...uh, uh...cricket, cricket

Dave@CustomAngelEyes 11-09-2006 01:21 AM

We will have a very favorable solution for everyone that has the current iBright and issues...please stay tuned the next few weeks! I promise!

godeacs06 11-09-2006 02:14 AM

Dave, how will you contact the people [myself included] who has issues with the current iBrights? Is there anything we can work out to send you the old iBrights and you send us in the new version? You know that at most they've only been in the car for 6 months, and the customer service for us having problems has been less than stellar.

Good question...

Dave@CustomAngelEyes 11-09-2006 10:00 AM

Through this forum of course...everyone will know.

bimmerFanatic 11-09-2006 06:21 PM

Yeah...I got mine a month ago...insane flickering when I start the car.

The fix, if one exists, shouldn't cost any money.

My ibrights flicker only whe I start the car (for the first time in the day)...

cue03 11-16-2006 11:43 AM

Oh that is good to know that it is only at startup.....

so after you start the vehicle, how long before the flickering stops? 5 min, 10 min etc?

jlevi 11-16-2006 07:12 PM

ICE Flickers for about 3 seconds when you start the car I believe.
JL

X5Jay 11-16-2006 07:36 PM

I haven't noticed any flicker on my PI's. Does this only happen if you leave the lights on auto mode? I always shut my lights off and I don't use DRLs - is this why I'm not seeing this issue? Just curious...

alexz 11-17-2006 01:49 AM

thinking to buy predator ice...
how much to upgrade to higher output version when its available?
if i have any install problems, can i get refund?
whats the difference between regular predator ice at 149 and chromiums?
thanks

jlevi 11-18-2006 07:49 PM

It will be cheaper to buy now at $149 and upgrade than to buy the ICE 5W new :)
JL

alexz 11-26-2006 10:53 PM

already installed it without guide ( a bit too late for me, but im sure other will apreciate it) took me approx 2 hours, was taking my time.
overall like the results, but wish they were BRIGHTER, they do seem slightly less bright than original OEM angel eyes.
wish the LED bulb was at least 10W or higher!

jlevi 12-04-2006 03:55 PM

Any photos? :)

alexz 12-04-2006 04:25 PM

ljnlaw 12-04-2006 04:26 PM

I had the Predators installed on my X about a month ago and I have no flickering. I think it depends how they are wired. I also have DRLs. My Predators are hard wired they are not wired to my low beams, DRLs or parking lights. When I start my car they are on and do not turn off until I turn the car off. I believe my mechanic told me that if they were wired to the park lights or the DRLs I would have flickering. Maybe how they are wired in your rides affect the flickering that you experience?

jlevi 12-11-2006 08:56 PM

ljnlaw - Are you satisfied with the product?

Thanks!
JL

ljnlaw 12-11-2006 09:29 PM

I weas until Saturday when the passenger side AEs mysteriously went out:confused: I think it may be a loose wire, my mechanic will check it out tommorow and we'll see. Other than this small glitch they have been fine.

alexz 12-11-2006 11:32 PM

also suggestion for future versions: get rid of tap-on connectors
plugs that connect to original connectors would be so much better

alexz 12-11-2006 11:33 PM

probably would heal flickering problem for some people too

Dave...it's been almost 4 months and more than a few weeks...wondering when this very favorable solution of yours for the old iBrights purchasers will be revealed?

Maybe contact him directly? I found a group buy on another forum for upgrades to AIB 2.0. I ordered a set for my E63 and Dave was gracious enough to do a "competitive upgrade" for my E53 and swapped out my Predator Ice for the new AIB 2.0.

The build quality and light level of the new version is amazing. No cheap plastic here, no silly wire taps and no yards of extra wire floating around.

I like my stuff to "be right" and I have no problem paying for quality. These new AIB's make the Predator Ice look like crap.

I have before and it's either no response or he'll say something like "production to start soon, will let you know". Odd he would do it on another forum and not do it on this one. Mind if I ask how much he charged for the competitive upgrade? Already shelled out over $300 for the old iBrights and don't think I should have to put out more considering the old iBrights did not perform as anticipated. I have no problem paying for quality either, but when I pay and don't get it, that's where I have issues.

blackpig 03-02-2007 03:02 AM

:iagree:
I have not heard any update from Dave either... and am still waiting for his favorable solution to fix the issues. However, I've changed mine to stock AEs since they don't blink/flicker like the freaking AIBs.

GeneArch 03-02-2007 11:44 AM

Don't know, never had any problem responding to my e-mails. Perhaps he has limited quantities and is rolling out slowly?

Here's the upgrade link from e60.net:

just looked at that post and I can't see how an upgrade for $99 plus the original iBright is a favorable solution considering we paid $315 in the group buy for a product that had problems to begin with. A swap plus me paying for shipping would seem to be a more favorable solution considering the group buy on that site is $289.

It's all about the value proposition. Apparently it's not for you and you should most likely stick with your current product.

Curious as to how that proposition is fair? I can see how it worked for you, considering you paid $150 for the Predator Ice and Dave gave you a competitive upgrade, which to me, sounds like you just paid the difference between the PIs and the iBrights. For me, it's about principle...it would be one thing if the iBrights 1.0 worked perfectly and I wanted to upgrade, I'd gladly pay for the upgrade...it's another when there are issues to begin with. He's already made money off of the original, why should he make another $100 for switching a defective product? Doesn't make sense.

kirkX5m 03-03-2007 08:43 PM

i probably should just stay out of the thread, but i think its alrreayd a generous offer for dave to offer a 99$ upgrade on version 1.0 customers. people that bought say the e46 m3 when it first came out weren't offered brand new e46 m3's when the better ones came out?!?!?!

well let's say that the e46 m3 was a lemon (which is what the old iBrights are - they blink, flicker and there's no solution), wouldn't you be allowed to return it and get your money back or get another one at the same price, even if the replacement is better? I'd be happy with the iBright 1.0 if it didn't flicker or blink and would gladly exchange the 1.0 I have for a 1.0 that didn't have problems.

well are the ibrights constantly flickering and blinking or is this only at startup? i still think that people that bought in windows vista cant be complaining for new release issues either...same goes with this vers 1.0 vs vers 2.0. you get the chance to upgrade for a nominal fee, no big deal to me imo.

blackpig 03-03-2007 11:42 PM

Well, I reported the flicker/blink faults to Dave less then 2 weeks of the initial purchase.
If you search on “Angel Bright” or my posts, you will see how easy it is for Dave to give out the promises but not able to keep up.
As of today, this thread, Dave gave another promise AGAIN and I want to see when he is going to fulfill it. You never know if it’s another bs or not… just keep you waiting… and waiting…

Yes, if I get the chance to upgrade from v1.0 to v2.0 for a nominal fee, that is no big deal to me either. However, that would base on if my V1.0 is not a lemon initially.

the blinking is at startup, the flickering is after startup while the angel eyes are on...and you're right, it wouldn't be a big deal to upgrade if there was nothing wrong with the original. don't know anything about windows vista, but assuming there are problems with it, you as a consumer have the right to return it and not use it, unlike the iBrights, never offered to refund nor a fix for the problem, at least not to me.
