BMW 6 Disc Factory CD changer

hey guys,

one of the mods i'm looking into is to add a 6 disc cd changer. I found this link on ebay and sells a plug and play OEM BMW Changer.

is it really as they say, its a plug and play. the auction says to find the 3 pin and 6 pin connector in the trunk. but before i start ripping anything at the back of my x5, does anyone know which side, where exactly are these pin connectors located? where is the best location to put the cd changer if i am not to cut on the walls and make it look built in.

any advice would be appreciated...thanks in advance

This CD changer dosn't appear to play MP3's. I believe the new ones do. So you may want to consider that before you spend your money. But yes they are plug and play, The hardest part is mounting it with the hardware but for me it was a snap. This appears to be one of the latest changers i will get as soon as I sell mine. http://bimmernav.com/store/catalog/p...products_id=87

First off, if I was going to install a CD changer then I would go with an OEM one that I know for certain will work like it should.

Second, I really question why even install a changer. For my money I would instead install an iPod interface kit. You get so much more going that route. CD's in my opinion have gone the way of 8 tracks and cassettes.

For convienence sake I agree. But when it comes to sound an iPod just cannot match 24bit CD quality. Of course that all goes away when you burn MP3 CD's to play in the changer.

If you encode MP3s at over 192kbps its CD quality and better.
