illuminated door sills... do they exist?
 

I found some older threads but with no useful information. Wanted to know if there has been any progress. Would love to see some illuminated door sills like what is in the Benz world... and I guess new 7 series world for 07 etc.

Any help here?

what do you mean by illuminated door sills? Never heard of them.

i think he means these except for BMWs. Haven't seen any for the X5.

Exactly, those are what I am referring to. Would be nice to have some of those for the X. Would make a good cosmetic improvement.

The 6 and 7 series have them. I've seen some advertised in aftermarket BMW catalogs such as Bavarian Auto.

But never for the X5, or at least I haven't found them, either.

I have seen them installed on a 3 series, an e36 and an e30. The weird thing was that the lights were blue which of course doesn't match the rest of the interior lighting.

I'll dig around and see if I can find a link to them on the web.

EDIT: These look identical to the door sills I saw on the 2 3 series

I believe They also have em for the 530i but we didn't get em.

I've also been interested in these and so far have come up empty. Nothing in the ETK and no info from dealers. Interestingly the BMW Individual brochures for the X5 show a general photo of illuminated door sills (like virtually all BMW Individual brochures) but unlike other BMW Individual brochures there is no mention of them with a specific part number for the X5. So I can only gather that they were never made.

Looks like the 2007's are going to have them available.
