Just what can you change with carsoft?
I am curious, but what can be changed using carsoft or similar tools?
Also I see from eBay they only claim to work on pre 2005 models what would happen with my late 2005 model? Why don't they work with later models and are there devices that work with post 2004 vehicles? I really want to just configure/tweak the dealer options like auto-door lock. |
auto door lock is configurable. I don't see a reason why it won't work on your 2005 model. I was able to read late 2005 530's with mine.

Carsoft is an okay app. I have a copy of 6.5 and a serial interface to the car that I bought off the internet for about $150 out of Hong Kong... It came covered in lots of cool stamps!!!
It does some live data collecting, which is cool, but is unable to save the live data it collects, it can read OBD II Codes, and you car is OBD II, but it does look at the module it is talking to and asks it what it is. This would be the only reason that i would think that you would not be able to use it on 2005 model year cars. It has component activation, which is cool, but kinda novel... Hey look... I can roll down my driver's side window with the touch of a button. I just use it to read fault codes. When I go to the coding section i have no options, I wanted to turn on day time running lights. |
So is there any software that can be used to code the X5 without going to the dealer or spending a fortune?
