tailgate problems
 

hi i have just bought a 02 x5 3.0d sport when i press the open tailgate in the car and on the key i can hear it click the tailgate lifts a little but will not open and will not open from pressing the rear tailgate release i have to climb in the back through rear seats and pull cord to open it does anyone know what the fault is thanks

It sounds like the actuator and switch are working but the latch is out of adjustment. A trip to the dealer is advisable unless you are mechanically gifted.
