How's the market for selling?
Getting ready to order a new ride, and either trading in or selling my 03 4.4.
Very low miles, under 11K. Sure would like the convenience of letting a stealer take it in trade-in, but would prefer better $$ selling privately. Is there much demand for used these days? I'm in MD. David |
based upon the number of new members with the E53 versions coming on line I would say there is a healthy resale market. Check www.kbb.com for the resale value though.

If you live in a state like NY with high sales tax you might be better off trading it in.
The trade offsets the price and you only pay on the difference. That said a 03 with that low millage sound really nice. How do you have such low millage? |

Mid 2003 production. I ordered 6/6/03, took delivery about 6 weeks later. Have not yet looked for original receipt. From my order form:
Steel Gray Ext., Black Leather Interior, Base Price $49950.00 Premium Package, Rear Climate Package, Xenon Lights, Comfort Seats. Net MSRP with freight $54845.00 Body & Paint perfect. Interior kind of dusty right now, plan to detail prior to listing for sale. No Modifications. Self serviced oil & filter around 7500 miles. Looking at KBB and Autobuytell type sites makes me think I should be able to get $35k pretty easily. I also have a set of 4 winter wheels. Dealer take-offs from a 2003 3.0, Style 57, with Dunlop WS rubber. Less than 1000 miles on rubber. I value these around $1,000. In case anyone wonders why I'm selling. I've decided I really don't need any SAV anymore. I drive my company 4X4 GMC 2500HD daily. My wife has a 2005 ML500. Really no need for another 4X4. I'm most likely leaving BMW's behind, going to get an old codger vehicle, in the form of a 2007 MB E550. One local dealer has the color & options I want coming in about 3 weeks, for a price less than a new X5 4.8. 382 HP, 391 lbs torque, 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, and smmmoooth with the new 7 sp tranny. I really like my X, and I'm sure I'd love the new series. I'm just not wanting to wait until January or later, and have concerns about 1st year production electronic gizmos possibly being an issue. (Yeh I know, same potential with the Benz) |
MB is nice, but nowhere near as good as BMW.
MB is NOT a driver's car (test drove MB ML 500, can't say it rides anywhere as good as X) just my 2 cents |
It sounds like you are don't need another large car.
If it was me I would get the following: http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/3/335icoupe/default The E is a nice car but its big and heavy the 335I is much more fun to drive. |
