Remus exhaust tips
I am thinking on paiting my Remus exhaust tips to black. I just want to have a OEM look and those shinny chrome twin pipes although beautiful are just a bit to much "bling" for my taste. I believe by choosing black color for the tips they will look a bit more discret.
Do you think itŽs possible to arrange a reliable hot paint that will handle the heat and wont fall apart with time? HereŽs a pic of the beautiful, althougth bling ;) chrome tips http://xoutpost.com/gallery/files/3/5/7/9/REMUS002.jpg |
How about replacing them with a set of OEM black chrome tips - then it will look completely stock but retain the Remus sound?... That's what I would do. Those Remus tips don't do much for me at all...

I would think you'd have a really tough time getting paint to stick to chrome..and even if you did it would flake and chip really easy. Your best bet would be to cut those tips off and weld something you like better in place of them.

Try powdercoating them. They'll never chip, and it'll look oem, for the most part.

I agree. This is the system I have on my wish list to do and wondered how it would look. Thanks for posting the picture. While my silver X wouldn't show the bling as bad I'd prefer the black OEM tips I have now. Would this hurt the performance and/or sound of the remus if I have the shop put the OEM tips on when I have it installed?

Read more here. You could also try bead blasting or some other media blasting of the shiny tips to created a satin or matte silver finish for less bling. Personally, I love my Remus tips. I think they standout and are far from :bling: Here is a double dose of Remus tips. :nanana: |
I was interested to have them black withouth the need to remove the exhaust in order to perform the job, so I decided to take it to the paint shop and use a hot black paint. They will polish the tips and paint. If the paint falls apart with time, IŽll polish again the tips and they will look less shiny , the matte look will be more discret, weŽll see, I hope the hot paint to last some time.
IŽll post some before/after pics. J.Seven |
