I was looking @ these TSW Laguna wheels....

5x120..........285/45/20 on the fronts & 295/45/20 on the backs....

I live in NYC so I cant get any skinnier than 45's

maybe you guys can tell me if I have the wrong sizes for the fronts & backs...do I need spacers?....what's the offset? I do not want to order the wrong wheel...let me know your opinion.....

What tire to get?

Let me know if im making a mistake....

Aimster 11-17-2006 03:25 AM

how much are those?

antonnyc 11-17-2006 03:31 AM

about $1100 for a set of four....www.discounttire.com....

Looks Like You Like Them lol hahahah

Now Dont GO Stealing My Style lol ahahhahah...:nanana:

Did You Like them?

JayX5 11-17-2006 04:55 AM

It's a nice style but 20s in that style will make them look like 18s because of the lip design.

Aimster 11-17-2006 05:16 AM

lol, they are nice but I have to agree that they might look smaller than they really are.

Dont worry. I am not going to get wheels until the spring/summer.
For now I have the same wheels (stock) as the user above me in his signature.

When I do get wheels I will probably get these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/AFS-BMW-New-Chro...em230051674034

main reason is the price.

Id love to see pics of X5s with custom wheels other than factory style. I havent seen many around. If I did I would possibly get an idea of how other styles would look on the X5.

Nicely looking wheel. But as Jay said, because of the deep dish that wheel on the car will look smaller than 20".

To be close to the oem wheels offset, you will need ET 45 front and ET30 rear
but you will get way with other offsets! This is also related to what size tyres you will be getting!Let us know the Offsets of this wheel and we can advise you further.

Regarding the tyres,You cannot have different height tyres on the front and rear!295/45 has a larger diametre than 285/45.Also these tyres that you mentioned will make you car ride much higher than your oem tyres and will give you speedo error and as they are between 28-35mm over the oem rolling diameter!
Oem 20" tyre set up,as you may know is 275/40 front and 315/35 rear, which as you say is too thin for your NYC area.In this case, you will find that the 295/40 is is adequate for your needs as some of the members here with similar road conditions also use it.

Have a look at this thread where a member has 295/45 fitted.

hey antonnyc...everyone here will either like it or they won't ... it really depends and falls on you. you chose this rim because i'm sure you like it.

i know you're just looking for confirmation from other members here and opinions are always good to keep in mind but no matter what we say ... what matters most is what you decide at the end of the day

good luck in deciding and definitely, i know most members will agree...POST SOME PICS on your new rims whatever you decide to get!

antonnyc 11-18-2006 01:15 AM

I live in Westchester and have been driving my 4.6 around the city for 3 years. I have never had a problem with the stock 20" rims and tires. Go with OEM sizes and you will be fine.........

otoupalik 11-18-2006 12:32 PM

we sell a LOT of TSW, and have never had a problem with bends on 5-series, 7-series, e-class and s-class (all heavy vehicles). I have put TSW on two of my best customers X5's (one on two years ago) with no problems at all.

The two X5's - one is in CO (horrible mountain roads) and one in Washington.

I caution all to remember that isolated issues that one member has had may be real, but they are often not the complete or real story.

PS, the wheel that I LOVE on the X5 is the Catalunya in 20x9 and 20x10. We use Toyo 295 fronts and 315 rears. These are the sizes I have on my OE 2.6 20's on my X5. I would have put the same TSW set-up, but we bought it used and it came with the OE wheels (which I love just as much).

Thanks
brad

antonnyc 11-18-2006 12:42 PM

lets see da pics of the TSW catalunya.....

I was also thinking of getting the 295 on the fronts adn 315 on the backs for that aggresive look but alot fo ppl tell me to stay away from that.....and go with 295 all the way around.

antonnyc 11-18-2006 12:46 PM

CATALUNYA'S ARE HORRID ! ! ! ! those rims looke like they belong on a honda in the Bronx.... just my opinion.....

otoupalik 11-18-2006 01:26 PM

i will post pics from the office on Monday. man - the staggered look is the only way to go IMHO!

To Anton, have you seen Catalunya's are an X5? Of course you are welcome to your opinion, but wheels are very subjective. Just because you do not like them, it does not make them "Horrid" LOL. I don't like Rolex watches, and prefer GP, AP, Choppard, etc. That does not make Rolex "horrid" - it is just not my taste.

Thanks
Brad

antonnyc 11-18-2006 02:52 PM

Rolex is horrid...i Like Baume & Mercier lol hahaha :nanana:

Once I see pics I might think different

:iagree: I actually own one. :D

ekaz 11-19-2006 11:34 AM

I did have some TSW wheels, all 4 wheels were out of round! At one point, the vibrations were so bad that I could barely hold on to the steering wheel on the expressway. I do give discounttire credit though, they did not give me a hard time about returning the wheels even after they were mounted. Of course, after the fiasco of getting them in the first place.....but that's another story.

jst2878 11-19-2006 01:51 PM

315 on the backs are sick

Good taste on that - I have a B&M in the collection too!

antonnyc 11-19-2006 04:49 PM

Ekaz do you have pics of the TSW Wheels?

I actually did some copy and pasting nonsense on the comp and the Rims looks HOT on the truck.....but I think it would look alot HOTTER if they were 22's b/c of the deep lip....20's will do just fine ! ! !!

I'm having a relative price out the rims and tires for me tomorrow....TIL THEN

ekaz 11-19-2006 06:11 PM

Just click on the X5 page link in my sig.

otoupalik 11-20-2006 01:30 PM

Here is a pic of an X5 with Cat's:

http://www.evosport.com/public/custo..._44_nl/nl1.jpg

TSW also has a new design out that I think will look great on the X5 (Estoril):

http://www.tsw.com/img/estoril_black...rmal_white.jpg

An older wheel which is also a really good looking option IMHO is the Montage:

Thanks
Brad

antonnyc 11-20-2006 07:55 PM

Brad.....Like I Said...HORRiD....lol ahahhahahah

The Estoril's Look HOT! ! ! ! !

otoupalik 11-20-2006 08:17 PM

I do like the the estoril as well.

Thanks
Brad

I like these wheels

antonnyc 11-21-2006 02:30 PM

I actually like them myself (in blk 2)....but I was going for more of an aggresive look and not a 3 series "BBS" look.......

AWESOME WHEEL THOUGH ! ! ! ! !

:nanana:

otoupalik 11-21-2006 08:02 PM

Hey, just a thought. We did a group buy for the aFe a while back for the members. I could do a TSW group buy if the admins would be up for it. Could save everyone a little bit and we would not need many people.

Thoughts?

On the BBS/Style 42 replica - love the wheel. Just IMHO it is not right for a big SAV/SUV. That wheel is so hot on a 5 or 7 series though (in 19").

Thanks
Brad
