I know what your saying. 25 bucks is not a problem.
But if my friend already has an account why cant he help me out?
And if we make friends on this forum why cant we help each other out.
I thought thats what the internet was for.

Low blow with the Kia forum.

And I call them Rats because thats what they are. Their job is to cancel peoples accounts so they can charge them to reactivate them.
Because they dont like us sharing?

Carfax is a business that, like any business, is there to make a profit........ and NOT to give out their product for free.......... besides...... most dealers will run the carfax report for you for free.......... if you are too cheap to buy the report then you are prob too cheap to buy the car....

Would these rat bastard fraud guys know if it was done that way?

Sure you can but how can you be certain that the person you are E mailing is not one one of the CarFax investigators?

Most of us are car enthusiasts here to share our experiences and help each other without a profit motive. The reason for starting this thread was to alert those good hearted individuals about my experience.

There was another incident, posted on the VCA Dodge Viper forum, about a closed account so apparently the fraud guys are lurking everywhere.

I understand their position, never read the agreement and was wrong in trying to help a fellow forum member by running a report.

I would also like to remind everyone that CarFax is reporting information that is public record, information that you could obtain without their service if you had the time. And it's not infallable. If a car was involved in an accident where no police report was filed and the owner paid cash to have it repaired there is no public record. They determine odometer rollback by tracking the reports filed by inspection stations. If the gauge cluster were replaced ,as long as the odometer reading is higher than the previous inspection CarFax would never know.

They give many the false impression that a car is perfect because there is no public record to dispute that fact but that does not mean it is. Rick

If I get my account cancelled...so what? I'll just pay another $25.... Or is there a penalty?

The penalty mentioned in their E mail, "you may be charged $19 for each free report that was E mailed".

Not sure how they would know that information.
