Another Steering Wheel Question
Does anyone know if you can get suede inlays or just completely change the exterior of the steering wheel? I want to match the Imola red color exterior to the steering wheel by adding some color to it. I can't seem to find anything online about changing the leather on the steering wheel. Help!

You might want to give American Stitches a try. I've never used them so I can't comment on price or quality, but the company looks interesting on line...

The best OEM suede wheel to buy is the e46 M3 CSL or CS wheel. The CSL wheel is an SMG wheel the CS wheel is not.
You could color code the lower trim to your vehicle also by sanding it down, use some plastic primer, then spray it imola red and seal the final product with come clear coat. If you bought the CSL wheel then you could add the paddle shift feature too, but if you prefer not too then go with the CS wheel. Here is a pic of the CS wheel. Note the CSL wheel is the same just has paddles shift and also note that both wheels only comes with one button on the multifunction, but thats ok as you can swap your button panel over from your original wheel. http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news...3-CS_225-L.jpg |
Suede steering wheels are awesome but once they get broken in they tend to fall apart.

That's good to know, changed my mind about getting a suede add-on to the steering wheel. I want to do something with the wheel that adds either color or carbon fiber, guess I'll have to wait and see.

You can buy carbon fiber lower trim. I've seen them on ebay and BMW specialists.
