Great tip. I will have to try that when it actually gets cold here. (That should be tomorrow....nothing like 20 degree temp shifts in one day!)

My mom's '94 540it had a way you could program the computer to turn the air on at a preset time on hot days. I am kind of surprised that later models dont have that anymore. Maybe it was just another thing to break later on?

In the early model X5, the automatic climate control has a button labeled "REST". Later 2001-on X5s has a button labeled "MAX A/C"....

Let say it is in the 40F or colder outside and you park your X5 and have to run an errand (go in the supermarket or pick up at the cleaners, etc.) and you want to keep the X5 cabin warm.

1) Turn off X5
2) Press the "REST" or "MAX A/C" button and it will light up
3) Climate control will let warm air come through the floor vents for about 20 minutes

I used it today among visiting nursing homes (it was 41F going down to 37F tonight) and it worked well!

Thank you so much! I never knew that, I used it last night (since its been 46 here *shakes head*) and it was so cool

I just noticed that you are from Parker, CO. I go there often as my brother lives there. He's off of Parker road and Hess btw ;).

I tried it last nite and my wife asked where I learned that tip from. I said "xoutpost.com!" and she rolled her eyes.
