DM-TL codes

Had a check engine light on today....checked the codes with my reader and here is what I have

DM-TL pump current
DM-TL heater

I have looked into this on search and did not find any clues....anyone out there have these codes pop up?

Seems like the pump may have gone out?

The DMTL pump is used to check the integrety of the fuel system and
then measures any leakage once it has pressuerized the system(neg)
Replaced lots of them....

thanks for the info...it is a 4.6is if that matters.

I have seen posts about vacuum lines on the top of the engine degrading over time also...I think this would show a different code rather than the two that show up??

I do get a small squeal on hard acceleration while in sport mode (high RPM) when the engine shifts....maybe I have a vacuum leak also.

If I recall correctly a leak would have a DMTL leak fault code..
It sounds more mechanical to me like the pump or wiring to...????

Thanks for the help....I have been looking in the parts cd with no luck for the pump unit. I can only find the fuel tank breather valve...is the pump part of that assembly? It shows it under the hood, I was under the impression it was located in the RH wheel area?

Nope, its a whole unit near the fuel tank.
I would look in fuel system but BMW could put it anywhere. Call the dealer they will know what your talking about when you ask a price for the DMTL pump.

Well, here is the scoop!

Bought the new pump from BMW $104.00, and removed the LH rear wheel well plastic liner, fairly easy, just remove all of the small screws and the push pin rivets. The pump hides up in the rear corner of the wheel well. Really simple removal of a couple of scres and hoses!

Gone is the service engine soon light! and back is the pump noise every other 20 minute or more trip after engine shut down!

Thanks again X5 World!
