guys,
i have been reading this board for a long time, trying to figure out what is the best x5 for me. finally today i made the purchase. thanks X5world!!! I know i did not want a new 07 one since you lose so much the second you drive off the lot. After a blue 2004 3.0with 7k miles nav and prem for only 32k falling thru ( lady sold it for 34 after she agreed to my 32.. cant blame her but it would have been nice if she told me since i was willing to pay 34) i found a silver 01 3.0 sports premium and nav, got the car off a nice guy from LA. http://i17.tinypic.com/2qltto8.jpg http://i11.tinypic.com/2qncniv.jpg http://i16.tinypic.com/4fu6u1i.jpg only thing with the car is that it needs a new tire. a few quick thoughts: the nav w.out touchscreen is so annoying and it's loud ( i turned it to the lowest already) any ways to make it softer? i have no idea how to figure out what version nav i have... ( cant find the setting screen) i do have a female voice. i finally have seat warmers but i no longer need them since i am in LA now i feel retarded after pushing the trunk button while driving car feels heavy.. friend said the same thing am i right when i say that i can replace the screen with any 16:9? only that the e46 one will look weird? do x5s without car phones still have the icon on the steering wheel with the guy talking? |
oh yea btw is the circular button closest to the screen suppose to have the corner lite when the car is turned off and key is out?

Yes you can replace the screen if you want but you would proabably have to update ur nav drive in the boot because it may be the older version.
Yes cars with out the phone kits still have the little button with the guy talking and they do nothing when you dont have a phone kit. To find your version follow these steps: 1. Go to the main menu 2. Click on Set or Settings Depending on what version you have 3. In the top corner of the screen there will be a little number that will be in the style of SW 3-1/63 or something around that. 63=Version you have 1 = full colour screen and 3= MKIII gps you may have a 2 instead of a 3 tell me how it went |
Nice!

Congrats and :xoutpost:
One thing about this site is that home page is full of useful articles you should check out, including this one detailing the 4:3 to 16:9 nav screen swap. ;) |
Very nice! :xoutpost: :wavey:

Congratulations! I too have issues with an overly loud Nav wench but there may be something called absolute volume that can fix this. Enjoy....and check out all the wheel options since you have to buy a tire anyways...
