Paging Mr.UCrew...
A post from that ol'RF board, and poster has instructions for fuel filter change. Do as you wish. BR, D
DIY fuel filter change info(7 views) (7 thread views) Message: I found the instructions/illustrations to change the fuel filter. It's a pricey little part since the pressure regulator is intergrated. Around $60 mail order. Someone mentioned that the dealer quoted 3 hours labor which is rediculous. Probably 1 - 1.5 hour for a first timer. Basically the panel infront of the wheel well on the driver side is removed after a bunch of bolts are off. All accessible from under the car. I have the instructions in a PDF file. Anyone host? it's 455k in size. http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e53/6341704-1.html |
I saw that too. Unfortunately he didn't leave his email address to contact him. I'm sure we can host the file (and find a way to shrink the size a bit - that's a pretty large file for changing a filter  )

That would be good info, however whats BMWs reccomendation on the fuel filter? I thought it was 'leave it alone'....?
|
No way!! It will clog up in time and decreasing fuel flow and hampering performance. My clogged up around 60K. :( I thought (my bad assumption), that BMW replaced during Inspection I at around 30K miles. But alas, their maintaince warranty did not cover the fuel filter replacement. :tsk:
Now, I would recommend replacing between 30-60K miles. I have already replaced the fuel filter twice for good maintainance. Quote:

NEway, Doc, my question is: what did your Stlr charge for the f filter replacement? By the bye, I looked up "Cherry Valley" you ref'd; one of my best friends on the planet lives in Corona, not far down the rd. BR,md |
