I've got summers on 19"s and winters on 18"s.
I noticed the tear when i was putting on my winter tires.....
Grease all over the inside of the rim.
Looks like the joint will be OK, caught it just in time.
Where can i get an aftermarket boot? Shipped quick would be good.

I've torn two (don't know how). Replaced one when getting tires @$350 and one when I went in for large service @$450. Methinks the damages was caused by the mechanics playing samurai with utility knives, but what can you do?

You won't feel a difference in driving until the grease the boot holds in is gone and the joint wears out. The guy with the knife told me that would be bad...

I literally just had this happen this week. I have a 2002 X5 with 40,000 miles. I am overseas currently so a friend has taken the car in and don't really expect them to cover under CPO. Dealer quoted $460. Hopefully, if the CV boot is torn you won't feel anything. If you do, it might have been torn awhile. Look for grease....sure sign of a tear.
