UK supplier for AFE intakes
 

I have been looking at purchasing the AFE intake to finish off my DIY install for my 4.6.....I have emailed a few dealers in the US, some will not send to the UK/N.Ireland, and some are charging $150++++ for shipping which I thought was quite expensive, was even quoted $220!!!! I cant understand this, as last year I purchased a set of 19inch wheels for an M3 from the US and was only charged $475 for delivery so when you compare the weight difference, the delivey charge for the AFE intake doesnt stack up. So anyway I was just wondering is there any UK guys on here that know of a UK based company that sell the intake?

Any idea what it would cost to ship to you
from the states if you did it yourself?
Like if you bought it, shipped it to me and I shipped it to you?

I havent got a clue? I can pick the AFE up for around $275/$300 before shipping. But when it comes to the dealers working out shipping cost, it's around half the price and in some cases more on top of the AFE. Leaving the cost of the AFE around $460 to $500 +++! I also just got an email back from AFE themselves who have told me they DONT have a UK supplier so I'm stuck on this one. Going by AFE's website the shipping weight is 13 pounds, box dimensions 19 X 9 X 11"

i've shipped heavy stuff to my brother in England and never paid this much.

In fact i'm going to ship over xmas pressies to them next week...so if you do need help in shipment, i dont mind helping out. (of course someone closer to AFE or east coast might be cheaper)

I could not find anything on UK ebay, I did find one on the US ebay but the guy wanted $345 plus $189 for shipping, apart from that I cannot find it anywhere other than the US!!! As Franklin Joseph said, I have bought quite a bit from the US over the yaers so have a pretty good feel for the prices of shipping, I just dont understand where $140, $150 to $200+++ comes from.

So going by the US postal service, If I was to choose Airmail Parcel Post which is good value I could have an AFE shipped for $59. The AFE dimensions are 19 X 9 X 11" which also fall well inside the USPS max dimensions.

well if the companies are shipping via Fedex/UPS/DHL, then the $$ gets quite high.
USPS Post Office is reasonable as long as you are not too big or heavy.

Now for $7 more, i'd opt for Global EMS (i think this is a guaranteed service) and Parcel Post is est. 4-10 business days, but with xmas around the corner...it will take abit longer.

but u should buy lots over here....since the US Dollar is very weak now!

Dont have a clue what an AFE intake is, but if its not too big and can be shipped USPS, you can ship it to me here (US address in the UK) and pay the same thing you would pay from state to state. Not sure how it would work from here to Eire though...

Ill be gone for the next two weeks but outside of that just let me know..:thumbup:

Sudesh lives in Northern Ireland so using either Parcel Force or Royal Mail, the cost will be the same as any UK address. I was thinking as I read the first few threads that sending to you would be a cheaper option, but didn't want to suggest without clearing with you first. Great minds and all that.....

Hi, dont quite follow you on this? What do you mean by US address in the UK? Also as DON said, I am in Northern Ireland which is classed as being part of the UK, so sending to N.Ireland will be the same.
I was talking to Dale Sievwright of EvoSport who can supply me a new AFE intake for my 4.6 for $273.60 but there shipping cost's are $185!!

bit of a middleman on this one tonight. Bozo works for the US Government and is stationed in the UK. As such he can use the US Military postal system which will only charge the same as posting to a US address. Hope that makes sense.

OH OK!!! Thats makes sense now. So this could be the best way around getting the AFE over to me then. I would have to get a zip code so I could get Dale Sievwright of EvoSport to cost shipping to Bozo.

Some companies get a bit funny since they HAVE to use USPS to ship to me...Most don't though...Also, as I said before, I'm making myself scarce on the 18th, and Ill be back in a couple weeks...So feel free to ship it, I just wont be able to forward it to you 'til after the new year...

Don an AFE intake is a replacement air filter system, for your stock item. I'm not sure if they do any for a Diesel X?

Oh yeah, Im not sure how big it is, but there are restrictions on over-sized items. But your guy will know if it is too big to go USPS or not...
