Question on Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus..

Hi, I am planning a trip to Tahoe with the family for a couple of days and was wondering will the original all-season Michelin will be ok for the snow. Are snow chains require if I use these tires driving up to Tahoe? I remember going up Tahoe few years ago with anothing car and it had All-Season tires but the snow patrols made me put on snow chains due to heavy snowing on the way to Tahoe. Thanks.

The All-Seasons should work acceptably, just don't push it. The snow patrol in Tahoe will let you through without chains if you have all wheel drive.

Is the X5 AWD or 4x4?

It says AWD, but isn't it really 4x4?

Um, I meant either. If it's 4wd or awd they'll let you through. For the most part the distinction is semantics, but I generally use awd to mean "full time all wheel driven" and 4wd to mean "part time all wheel drive", as with switchable sytems.

The point is if you're driving an SUV, a Subaru, an Audi, or an AMC Eagle they won't require chains.

no I know what you meant :)

I was just curious if the X5 was AWD or 4x4 cause I don't know.

Ive seen it advertised as AWD all over the place, but then I watched videos of it getting stuck in grass and it looks like it is 4x4.
