x5 shaking?
 

hello members,
well its been a shitty Friday today, cant even go out tonite cuz im afraid to be embarrased my x is gonna die on me with my friends in the car...well, to get to the point, i was driving my x today and the service engine soon light came on, and right after that my x lost power, and it starting shaking, LOUD. i continued driving thinking it was maybe the potholes on the road or something, but no, i continued feeling the loss of power and more sudden shaking. so i pulled over and let it rest for like 5 minutes, put it back on and it still continued doing the same thing. so i went home, let it rest for like 8 hrs and went out for a little, after 20 min of driving it continued to do the same thing. imo i think it might be the oxygen sensor, since i had my SES light come on last week and i took it to pep boys and they said it was the o2 sensor after checking the codes....idk guys this x is dissapointing me more and more as time goes by, not happy with it at all:mad: ....let me know what you guys think, thanks

I would check for any type of leak...I remember having a similar incident - and the rubber boot that comes from the mass air meter to the engine was very loose (the clamp) almost coming off - the day before the incident, I had a SES light, and the next day the X just stalled as I was about to make a left turn (me at the front of the line). I waited thinking on what to do - then I restarted the X and it was normal - went to work and on the afternoon that I came back home, I checked and that rubber boot was loose. Check this:

Could be o2 sensor. Could be air boot. Could be spark plug. Could be ign coil. Could be. . .

2002 X5 3.0i...77,000 miles, i live in cresskill, difeo bmw is the closest to me in tenafly,nj...all i did in pep boys was make them check the code with that obd instrument they have and they gave me this code: P0141, bank 1 sensor 2; heater circuit malfunction.

Sensor 2 is the after cat sensor. I think that's a false code. It shouldn't cause a shake after the engine has warmed. I would look for the air intake boot, or spark plug.

ahhh...idk i think im just gnna go ahead and replace that sensor and see what happens after that...this is a great example of my frustration over the past year with my x.......:dunno:

I can understand frustration with car issues. One thing i've always tried to do is develope a relationship with a reputable BMW trained mechanic. That way when issues come up i can at the minimun have them run an accurate diagnostic. That way i don't spin my wheels trying to figure out what's going on. That way if money is an issue i can always deal with the more serious issues first and work my way thru the rest. I would be concerned with others who are not aware of BMW technology. You may get some help but not the whole picture. Anyway; hope you get things up to speed. :)
