I got my rear pads at Napa, $79. And I pay somebody to intall them $80. Remember you have to get a new sensor too. At the dealer should be around $27. I got it on ebay for $7.50 free shipping. I'm planing in install it my self when my X5 gets back from the dealer.

Good luck:)

'They' meaning dealership?
Assuming that rear brakes means pads AND rotors, $470 seems about right at the dealership (actually seems lower than some other dealership prices I have seen).
My local dealership charges ~ $1,100 for front and rear full brake job.

My dealer charges around the same... ~$1100 F+R. The fronts are almost $100 more due to the rotor price. $470 is on the low side for a stealer rear brake job.

My indy shop, however, did the same work for half the price and now I'm rolling on Axxis dustless pads. If you have access to a trusted local shop, let them give you an estimate.

I dont think you need a sensor if the lights havent come on. I see mine are wearing out, about 6mil left Im hope to change them before the warning lights come on. I think you got yours at a good price though!

You are right, you only need a sensor if the light is on
