hood connected to alarm?

Does anyone know if the hood is connected to the original BMW alarm system? Read about a breakin here i Sweden where they cut the wires to the horns to disable the sound alarm, and then went into the car and stole all the electronics (nav, cd etc),
As far as I can see in the TIS, the alarm horns are placed far up in the rear section of the engine compartment, which should eliminate any possibility to reach them from below, hence the hood must have been opened. Any clues??

There is a hood switch but many disconnect it because it tends to trigger false alarms.

Certainly got a switch on mine - and it won't be disconnected!! Never had a false trigger.

The hood is connected to the alarm. However, the pin sensor has a tendency to go bad. Mine was replaced under warranty.

The hood has a pin switch which is connected to the alarm. Also the siren has a built in battery. They can cut the wires all they want the Siren will still be screaming.

Yes, in my '01 I had to replace the hood switch - no problems since then
