Very nice. I can't wait for mine to get here. Oh the agony of waiting. :)
Good luck with this one!

Steved 06-07-2005 02:19 PM

What colour are you getting?

ekaz 06-07-2005 02:25 PM

Exact same as yours except I chose the comfort seats. Other than that, you have my truck! Now give it back! j/k
Even the running boards..

Steved 06-07-2005 02:30 PM

Ah! Good choice.

I drove one with the Comfort Seats that BMW loaned me for a month and they were really nice. Very 'comfortable' :) But I live on very twisty roads and I found the Sport Seats ultimately better for the journey's I do. We drove 2000 miles to Switzerland and back in the BMW loaner and I couldn't fault the comfort seats on a long journey.

When are you getting yours?

LeMansX5 06-07-2005 02:39 PM

Hey! Those are pics of my 4.8is. But the steering is on the wrong side. j/k :D

Congrats! Steve. I love the color combo you choose, exact same as mine. Good that BMW gave you a new truck.

UCrewX5 06-07-2005 02:40 PM

Looks awesome Steve. Fingers crossed that this one treats you the way the first one should have. Glad everything worked out!!

Jeff

In case anyone asks, those pictures were taken after 1 treatment of Zymol HD-Cleanse, Meguiars Qwik Detailer with a Clay Bar, 3 coats of Zaino Z-2, 1 coat of Meguiars Liquid Carnuba and 2 coats of Zymol Titaniam Wax. Either I'm very thorough or 'very confused'... :bustingup

Do you have it lowered already, or is that stock?

Steved 06-07-2005 03:01 PM

I managed to get it lowered by 'just' 5mm. My dealer couldn't go any further since the car is being supplied by BMW UK and they needed to report back to BMW that all checks and settings were as they were supposed to be. I might be able to get them to take it a little further once I've had it for a few thousand miles.

Next step is to get the front windows tinted to match the rears, then I'm still considering the resonator mod.

crete 06-07-2005 03:09 PM

Congrats on your same but new ride... It is exactly like mine except for the running boards which I'm thinking of doing as well..they look great were they factory install and if so how much extra?

Steved 06-07-2005 03:11 PM

It was all factory installed, so the running boards only cost £215 pounds.

Glad the seats live up to the name. Mine should be here the end of this week or sometime next week. Already planned the window tinting and have the V1 and stealthone waiting...
I like that drop, anyone know wher I can get it done around Chicago?

x5gb 06-07-2005 03:46 PM

Wicked 4.8is there Steved. My next X5 will definitely be a 4.8.
Where do you recommend getting front windows tinted as I wish to do this to my 04 4.4 (around London area preferable).
Also can anyone recommend a good headrest monitor and dvd installer and who does'nt charge an arm and leg for the previledge along with a supplier of an upgraded digital tv tuner to replace my oem BMW analogue one.

Regards

motordavid 06-07-2005 03:55 PM

Steve: Fineazz looking car! Glad to read the lemon switch worked out to your satisfaction.

I'm getting my front windows tinted by 'Old School Windscreens' in Surrey Click Here it's only £94 incl Vat and the quality is top standard. I had it done on previous X5 too.

For Digital TV upgrades and installation of DVD's etc I can recommend Tim at Mobilecentre Click Here . You can talk to other owners who've been customers of their work at www.bm3w.co.uk.

Thunder22 06-07-2005 05:19 PM

nice ride steve, love the color (and no not because I used to have an '01 that color or because I have an '04 Corvette Le Mans Commemorative either! :) )

Can I ask what a 4.8 goes for in the UK? It must be one expensive investment....

Steved 06-07-2005 05:23 PM

Thanks gresch, the 4.8is cost me just over £64,000.

What problems and how many problems were you having for them to take it back as a lemon. Just wondering because my X5 has been one problem after another since i purchased it. PM me some info if you can please

It's been a long hard fight but after more than 30 dealer visits and nearly 3 months off the road I managed to negotiate a replacement car at 'no additional cost' to myself. I succesfully made the case that the car was dangerous (air suspension issues plus engine DME) and that the liability risk to them was far greater than the cost of replacement. It's the second BMW in the past three years that I've managed to get replaced, so they call me 'Mr Pedantic'.. :p

If you fancy a read, the whole episode is chronicled here ..

X5RO 06-08-2005 07:22 AM

Love the new ride. I really like the color. I love the front end on your 4.8. The headlights, bumper, and the driving lights flow very well with the 4.8 body.

I have to agree with you on the sport seats. They hold you firmly in place. I think it also gives it that sporty feeling just by sitting in it.

rgnbull1227 06-08-2005 12:14 PM

Congrats Steved!!!!! looks great!!! now get the resonator removed. I am actually heading to my dealer in 30 mins. it looks like I might be getting a new 4.8is under lemon law. it seems something went wrong when they painted the X. All doors on the inside where the sheetmetal and welds meet by the edges, are bubbling. the clear coat is blistering on the entire inside. my detailer say it wont be long till this progesses to the outside. If they have to repaint the vehicle, the resale value will drop like a rock. They mentioned replacing the vehicle as an option so we will see.

R8DX5 06-08-2005 04:18 PM

Sweet ride Steve.
Hope you enjoy it more the 2nd time around.
The steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car though. :bustingup
