Can’t unlock my X: battery is dead, lock is broken

Need help! Here is the problem:
My front driver door handle is broken (when I pull on it the door doesn’t open) so I left my X at local mechanic to fix it BUT they didn’t start it for few days. Because of cold weather and shitty battery (I know :banghead: – my fault :swear: ) now the battery is completely dead! So we can’t get in, since there is only one mechanical lock (front driver door) and it is broken. Battery is completely dead, keyless entry doesn’t functioning. I called couple placed and nobody can unlock the door.
Any suggestions? All we need to do is to find the place where to connect battery (+) to use keyless entry. Or to open the hood somehow to connect the battery… I really don’t want to break the glass. :tsk:

Sedoy, even with broken driver door handle,
did you try the "two key turn" method, as
noted below?

It looks & reads confusingly, but a "double turn"
should open other doors, manually.

Then, you can pop hood and connect batt. charger to
bring batt. back to life, hopefully. Your "mechanic"
does not sound too adroit, lol!

Opening and closing – via the door lock
Using the key
One turn of the key in the driver's door
lock unlocks the driver's door only.
Turning the key a second time unlocks
all of the remaining doors, the liftgate/
tailgate and the fuel filler door.
You can have an acknowledgment
signal set to confirm that the
vehicle is correctly closed.

Convenience operation
You can also operate the windows and
sliding/tilt sunroof via the door lock.
>
To open: with the door closed, turn
the key to the "Unlock" position and
hold it

>
To close: with the door closed, turn
the key to the "Lock" position and
hold it.
Watch during the closing process
to be sure that no one is inadvertently
injured. Releasing the key stops
the operation.

Manual operation
(in the event of an electrical malfunction)
Turn the key to the extreme left or right
to unlock/lock the door.

Thanks Motordavid, but I think "double turn" works only with good battery. But I'll try it tomorrow anyway.

Correct but you might be lucky, battery might have just enough juice to pop the lock. If it doesn't I am afraid you may have to break the window glass. Good luck.

That's the gripe I have with every single new car out in the market today. I mean...how much more does it cost to put that extra lock cylinder in the passenger door? I didn't realized that the X only got ONE lock cylinder until after I have purchased it (I had always assumed, for legal reasons, that there would be another lock cylinder on the car - ie. passenger door or trunk lid), else, that would have been the deal breaker for me.

Try giving BMW a call and see what their suggestion(s) would be - I'm sure all of us would like to hear what they have to say about this since their bean counters somehow deleted their "back up" option on the lock.
