Why do you need to know? Do plan on buying only one wrench or one socket? If you're doing any work on your BMW you might as well get a complete metric set. It usually ends up being much cheaper than buying them one by one as you need them.

Maybe he has a set of sockets but the 17mm might be missing? Now that would be a reason to buy a single socket.

True. However, I would buy the missing socket regardless of what size the oil pan plug is. But that's just me. :D

I always buy a whole new set when I lose a socket. Must be a cost per item thing I guess...

I have 4 sets of metric sockets, but only one 10mm socket. :p

LOL, I don't mean I'd buy a whole set. I'd just buy the missing piece. Murphy's law dictates that any missing tool is the one you'll be needing next time you fix anything.

That doesn't mean I've never bought a redundant set of tools before. One can never have too many tools. :thumbup:

You must have missed my post. I said that there is no article for the 2000 4.4, and the drain plug was located in what was called the other trap door, which was labled as trap door number 1. You do know that the picture was from that link, right?.

I was asking if that was correct plug. I knew the plug was a 17mm, I just didn't know if that was the plug that I NEEDED, as in the drain plug.

So for future reference, there is no DIY for 2000 (obviously) 4.4 x5. The oil drain plug is located in the trap door #1 show for the 3.0.

It's the 12mm that is missing from all 3 of my sets! One of my 12mm wrenches is also missing :rofl:
