*Service Engine Soon* light came on

the service engine soon light came on, is it time to take to the dealer ?
is there a way I can shut it off ?

It could be anything. Even not screwing your gas cap on correctly can get the light to turn on. I believe you can bring it to AutoZone and get a free error-code reading, to see what it is. Then you can decide to bring it to the dealer or not.
