Sporty,
Kind of an odd question, as I suspect you'll get some answers all over the map, vis a vis diff. engines, driving style, driving daily in Denver or Edinburg vs. driving daily in Kansas or the Plains of Salisbury, etc. I guess you could do some arith and come up with some "average", but that's all it's going to be: a very leveled "average". Not poking, jes' wondering "why"...(maybe your doing a paper? ) NEway, fwiw, my info and a pic of a 500+ miles on tank, which we can regularly do on long highway trips, eg runs from NC back to NY, etc. Cheers and Stuff! BR,mD Model: X5 Sport, 19" 132 wheels 5 Spd Manual with High RPMs @ cruise Year: 2001 Engine Size: 3.0 Cost Per Tank: $50 USD, give or take, if on fumes Miles Per Tank: 400+ regularly, 500+ often on trips Current Mileage: 56,000+ Type of Driving: mostly highway, freeway, some around town. EDIT: my OBC, which I have never changed/reset in its life, says 20.2; I've seen high 23s on many tanks and a couple high 18s on a few tanks, doing the arith deal per tank. |
<quote> This info maybe of use for people thinking of buying </quote>. I personally think this sort of information is invaluable for people thinking of buying. Some people struggle to own a car like this and the consumption is sometimes a large deciding factor. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far....

500+ miles per tank for a highway trip! My car gets horrible highway mileage. On a trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and back, I used two tanks of gas. |

Supprisingly I am getting better milaege of my 04 4.8 then I am was getting of 02 3.0. When you are driving 4.8, 50 per cent of the horses are resting 80 per cent of the time, adn thus less hay is getting consumed.
This was a shock to me. After I Accended (engine size only) to 4.8, I was struck with inability to ignore the common sense. Don't get me wrong. But it feels a lot better to let a jap pass you on a hi- way and wait for you to respond for a couple of miles then waste them right a way. I am either getting old or mature. P.S. 4.8is mileage is a lot more managable then 3.0. |
