Hitch Installation
newbie here!!.. I need to have hitch installed in my X5, is it dependable to have somebody like U haul or other shops to install the BMW hitch package kit. Mine is fairly new so do not want somebody to mess it up as it is still under full warrantly.
help me out!! Manisha |
Huge threads about this very topic as I was researching this myself. From my reading....
Get the OEM hitch kit from BMW directly. It can be a DIY project (takes about 6 hours). U-haul and aftermarket have been known to damage the frame of the X5 and don't fit as well. |

I will never trust UHaul or other shops to touch my BMW for hitch. Did you already bought the BMW hitch kit? Have heard few bad expeiences. Either do yourself or take it to dealer. |
Thanks alot,
No, I have not bought hitch kit yet. Thats was actually my concern too. I really do not want other than BMW to touch my X5 but thought just ask guys here about their experience. do you mean I need to take to BMW dealer or any dealer? BMW dealer here in my area asking $1170 total for complete installation. Manisha |

Get the BMW hitch ....it is well worth it! Very solid construction and it will not damage your frame.
I absolutely love it. I use it for my bike carrier and a hitch mounted rear cargo carrier. http://photos3.flickr.com/12351411_a6761eba9d_b.jpg |
