Important Trade-in question
2 Attachment(s)
I purchase my 3.0L X5 on July last year, my options include: Navigation, rear air bags, original BMW head rest dvd, mp3 cd changer, sport package and premium package with only 1330 miles, but now I’m interested on the new X5 because of the 3rd row seat option. The dealer here in Germany said they will give 15 % less than the US trade-in value, I paid $ 48,000.00 for it new, my question is shut I trade it for a new one. Have include copy of the military price here in Germany, Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

i would recommend that you wait for the 2008 model. but then, your resale value will be lower. a used car is still a used car though, so if you waited, the depreciation wouldn't drop that much, but it may compete with the price of the E70.

The biggest depreciation was when you drove your E53 of the lot - keeping it more than a year will lessen the pain and the cost. But if you gotta have it........ (IMO the third row seats are all but useless) |

I have been here, since 2001, it’s time to go back, I love Europe, but miss the family. |
As I understand it, the military price is a take it or leave it price, so unless you think that the E70 price will drop in 08 and you will be able to get a price that is better than tax free - I would go for it. Besides if you go for the 4.8 i with 20" wheels you can legally drive it at 150 mph and tell us all if it can really do it without having to fold the mirrors in!

wow...that's a long time away from your family.
would you happen to know the shipping costs and taxes to transport the X? I would be nice to have the new X on a last minute goodbye excursion in germany.....you get to test it out on the autobahn  but still...it doesn't seem worth it as of right now...but i'm sure other members have a way to help you. |

BMW has a special price for NATO personnel, we don’t have to pay the (VAT) 19% German tax, the Canadian government made all the arrangements, the on only problem is that we have to take possession of the vehicle here in Europe for at least 120 days and ship it back to the US to avoid import taxes , It cost $980.00 and it will go with the new BMW going to for the dealers in the US.
