Not at the Dealership, but at a local shop that has a BMW enthusiast there.

I have kind of become a BMW 'snob' of sorts. I still love all cars, and the ones you mentioned are HOT! However nothing I have driven (just about everything) gives me the same feeling and build quality I have come to expect from BMW.

Well I can tell you from owning all of them the TBSS, SRT8 and the X5, that in terms of build quality and comfort SRT8<TBSS<X5. Before dropping a lot of coin on these modifications, if your looking for fast, luxurious and European I would take a long look at the ml63amg or a cayenne turbo. If you find a used cayenne turbo it can be substantially cheaper than doing all of this.

I not only need fast, I need to be able to take corners at break neck speed, have my hands and butt warmed, and go up in the snow.

Cornering in an SUV is sort of a joke, the best track performer by far is the SRT8, and it does have most luxury items, DVD, NAV, heated seats, bluetooth etc, but depending on how much snow you have and the extent of your off roading none of these "performance" SUVS are a viable choice. But from my experience the TBSS and the X5 are both great in the snow, whereas the jeep has some catching up to do.

Eh, the Porche is fairly ugly to me. To some I am sure it is hot, just not to me.

I don't know dude, I go around corners pretty damn fast in my X5. 60mph on some.

I didn't really start to get into the supercharging game until I put a blower on the ZO6, that made me a FI advocate and from then on it was supercharging everything. I also don't think there is any FI for the W140 series mercedes anyways. I'm looking to get rid of it anyways, and get a sportier sedan.

cpatzer - cornering feels best in a car, cornering in an x5 at 60 doesn't have the same feeling as cornering in a m3 at 60. If cornerning is what you like, save some of the money and pick up a nice sporty car.

Has anybody here bought the Dinan supercharger for their X5?

I just did just recently, and I know there are at least two or three others here who've done it, too.

Do you notice a big difference?

ABSOLUTELY - it really hauls a** - although it wasn't JUST the supercharger. It was the whole S3 kit, which includes an amazing sounding exhaust and other components that are apparently important to the functioning of the supercharger. You'll note that the thread referred to above has the word, "WOW" in the subject line. ;)

Is it still covered under warantee?

If you're still under original warranty, that will continue until it runs out for things not associated with the Dinan equipment, and Dinan covers their stuff. The important thing to know about warranties is that once your original warranty runs out, you will NOT be able to get an extended warranty for your X5 (from BMW or anyone else) because the Dinan equipment would void it. Thus, you'll only be left with the remaining Dinan warranty on THEIR equipment only (if it hasn't run out by then).

Will is shorten the life of the motor?

Probably. At the very least, it will cause various parts to wear out/fail sooner than they otherwise would have. IOW, I think you should view the cost of the upgrade as only the INITIAL cost; assume you'll probably spend a few thousand bucks every year or two (on average) in the future, too.

What are your 0-60 times?

I just did my first timed runs (using a G-Tech Pro RR accelerometer) and my fastest run was 5.4 seconds (with most in the 5.5 to 5.6 sec. range), roughly a full second faster than the time for the stock 4.6is. You can see a video of my speedo/tach at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zelScxloBC4

Having that kind of power and responsiveness at your fingertips (right foot) is just plain FUN! It'll never handle like a 911, but if ya gotta drive a big heavy SUV every day, it sure as hell beats a Ford Explorer! :rofl:
