Okay, I know my original thread didn't contain pictures. So, here are the pics of the install.
First of all, I had to say goodbye to my Phillips in-dash casette player!! Got a 2004 spec, radio with in-dash CD which is made by Alpine. It is compatible with Sirius and Aux. Also, got the latest BMW Sirius Receiver and DICE-HD. I also had to get the DICE DSP adaptor since I have digital DSP. Well, here are various pics of the install. Tom G really knows his BMW audio electronics and very professional installer. |

Some more install pics...the DICE-HD module is mounted behind the glovebox. You can see how Tom routes the HD antenna along the A-pillar. Hopefully, that will be the only time I'll see the head airbag!!

Nope, that's it. However, I'll add pics of the radio text display this weekend.

There was a lot of work in a short amount of time performed on this particular X5, here's a rundown on what was performed:
e39/e53 BMW Business CD Upgrade - iPod/AUX/Sirius compatible http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=289 This replaced the Business Cassette unit with Business CD and made him compatible for Sirius. Since he was a late 01 build, a PlugPak was not needed. However this was a Digital DSP vehicle so an analog cable was needed for Sirius audio: Audio Cable for digital DSP-equipped vehicles - 12 pin http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=277 This brought the X5 up to 2004 specs and prepared the vehicle for Sirius: Sirius Satellite Radio - e53 X5 http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=274 The Sirius module was installed underneath the spare tire in the stock location and antenna in the rear spoiler for a 100% stealth installation. Next it was onto the DICE and HD radio: DICE High Definition Radio w/ iPod Integration (BMWs w/ Sirius) http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=610 DSP Kit for DICE iPod Integration Kits http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=230 When all was said and done - we have a fully-equipped X5 with iPod integration, Sirius radio, HD radio and in-dash CD without a trace of installation except for a tiny iPod connector in the glovebox. ;) |
Yes, I have had the Alpine DVD tuner & TV tuner since even before West Fest 1.
Tom G. converted the RF modulator audio signal for the TV Tuner & DVD player to play through the AUX off the DICE-HD. Quote:

Any chance of putting up some detailed instructions for the Sirius module install and antenna? I just got mine from EAS yesterday and hoping to install it this week.
