Is this Entertainment System BMW OEM?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello All,

I'm considering purchasing a 2003 X5.

One of the options it claims to have is a Passenger TV/DVD player.

I've attached a picture of that shows the BMW logo on the bottom of the screen. I've done a number of searches and have not been able to determine if this type of entertainment system ever was an option from BMW. In fact, I'm beginning to suspect that this was a post production modification..... but how come it has the BMW logo on the screen?

If this is a post production modification, I would be hesitant of purchasing this vehicle simply because of this.... any ideas?

Has anyone seen an instalation like this or would like to pass on some information about it?

Cheers,

Marcus

BMW offers a unit similar to what is pictured:

P/N: 82820304647 (Alarm + Glass Roof + Elec. Seat Back = Yes) (Panoramic roof = No)

There are other part numbers depending on your X5's configuration.

As far as "Post-Production", this type of equipment can be and hopefyuly was installed by a BMW dealer (which may be bad or good, depending on the dealer), but it could have been installed by a third or private party. Regardless, if it doesn't work, then it really doesn't matter who installed it - you have good reason to be "suspective" of the vehicle, but if it does work, does it matter who installed it?

Ok. So are you saying that this could be BMW OEM?

I don't quite understand what you mean by the following....

"P/N: 82820304647 (Alarm + Glass Roof + Elec. Seat Back = Yes) (Panoramic roof = No)"

Where can I find information about this part number and the operating manual?

Cheers,

Marcus

That does look like BMW OEM. Except they probably don't make them anymore because they only worked with the regular sunroof, not the pano version.

I think everyone missed picture above. It says BMW right on it. Whether its a retrofit from another BMW I have no idea.
