Hatch closed won't open
Hello my battery has completely drained, can't even jump it. However I can't get the rear hatch open to pull the batt' out is there a manual release somewhere?

I had the same problem, here's what AAA did. First they jumped the car from under the hood, this didn't start the engine but allowed for me to open the rear to access the battery directly. After that, to get the X to turn on they had to jump the front connection under the hood with the portable battery jumper + jump the rear battery directly (at the same time) with the engine to engine hook up. Lucky for me the guy knew about the X's, they take a lot of juice to get going. It does state in your manual never jump the battery directly but he's been doing it with no problems. This was done long ago and haven't had a problem since because of the jump, of course I purchased a new battery after that. Hope that helps.

Suffice it to say there is no manual release of the rear cargo hatch? |
Unless there's a key hole under it that I couldn't find, I don't think so. Did you check the manual? Do you have BMW assist? Or AAA? They can help.
Also, don't have your X towed on 2 wheels, if you do need it towed make sure they put it on a flatbed truck. |
This is from the manual under liftgate.
Manual release In the event of an electrical malfunction, you can release the liftgate manually: 1. Remove the plastic plug from inside the cargo area and pull toward the interior, refer to arrow. The liftgate will be released 2. Reinstall the plug. |
Hi,can someone tell me what would cause the bottom liftgate not to lock;it just open's with me pulling on it no need to push the button to open.
