Mileage Maxx / Vortex intake: does it work?
 

has anyone used this so called mileage enhancer?? where it creates a vortex in your air intake before it hits the engine... it's supposed to increase mileage like 50% and not hurt your engine...

does anyone know if this works???

No, they don't work. Save your money. If it's burning a hole in your pocket then donate it to charity. ;)

Auto manufacturers spend millions of dollars in R&D trying to meet fuel consumption targets. A $5 piece of sheet metal isn't going to do trick. If it really worked they would have patented it and made way more money licensing to the manufacturers instead on hawking it on late night infomercials.

It's simple physics: You add all this surface by putting a number of "wings" in the intake, and therebye decreasing the area the air can flow through, and therebye you increase the flow restriction of the air, which is probably more of an negative effect that the supposedly positive effect of the s.c. "swirling".

These have been around for years under different names. Every so often an Attorney General decides to procecute for false advertising.

You guys are all wrong. This unit can increase your mileage so much that once you install it and fill up w/gas, you may never need to go to the gas station again. It makes the fuel last forever, really.
