Factory Xenon on a 2001

I have the original stock xenon on a 2001 x5. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to buy another set of bulbs for a brighter set. Does the xenon bulbs glow lesser over time? and is it even possible to change another tint of bulbs?

I'm planning to tint my headlights, thats why i'm looking for brighter bulbs.

interesting...

what color were you thinking? there are HID kits available.

just brighter/stronger beam, a tint of blue.

is it worth it to get an hid kit to replace the xenons?

Just get some 10000k or 12000k d2s xenon bulbs. I'm thinking of getting the 12000k lights for my truck.

If you want the brightess setup, get 6000k HID bulbs.
The higher the number, the less light it produces.

I believe the stock ones on an X5 are already the lowest, meaning they should be the brightest.

If you want more light, upgrade ur fogs to real XENON lights. That will be a few hundred dollars.

remember...let's not blind other drivers...especially people not in SUVs :nanana:

The X5's projector with correct leveling and bulb color will concentrate the light beam to where it should be regardless of how bright it is.

Brightess setup is 4100K-4500K, projector lens will shift the color and make it slightly blue. For comparison, OEM Philips 4100K D2S Bulb is 3200lm bright (+/-450lm) vs. Philips Ultinon 5800K D2S Bulb is only 2400lm bright. Some newer ballast (D4S and D4R) setups claim to be slightly brighter:
4800K D4S Philips 42402 - 3800 lm bright
5800K D4S Philips 42402 V269 – 3300lm bright
4800K D4R Philips 42406 – 3800lm bright.

If you’re looking for brightess setup get true 50W ballast with HID 50W Philips DL50 bulbs, which will give 5800lm, almost twice brighter than your stock 35W HIDs.
Philips DL50 bulbs are vary rare and expensive around $120 per bulb, they use the same P32-d2 D2S base, but as I said you will need new 50W ballasts + igniters for that.

Obviously it is harder to level SUV/SAV headlights, but with correct setup and reasonable brightness (up to 6000lm) shouldn’t blind other drivers.
