GPS radar detector
|
according to the website they are not shipping yet but it is a pretty neat idea...I just wonder how tight the margin of error is on the spectrum analyzer they use for the frequency id is
|
nice one, good features, but i still enjoy with my "cobra"..
|
Not sure how helpful it would be.
On local trips I know where the traps are and on long trips your observation data is limited. |
My cobra works great, I do a lot of road trips from Phoenix AZ to San Francisco CA, and it saves me on every trip. It can pick up signals from the front and rear from radars to lasers. When driving in CA it picks up the CHP K band easily.

based upon my personal experience (my father owned escorts since the late '70s and I owned them through the '80s-90s) since I bought my V1 in the late '90s I would never ever buy another radar detector again. It is the best on the market hands down. Steve Valentine invented personal radar detectors when he was with Cincinnati Microwave (Escort) and has it down to a science.

I'm considering getting a radar detector. Knock on wood, I haven't been given a ticket yet in 180,000 miles of driving. I'd still like the security though. I'm good at scanning for speed traps on the highway, but that can only get you so far. This new Passport apparently has good range, but the GPS is kind of pointless. The V1 has the arrows, and will always be the only one with arrows. That kind of negates the need for the GPS-memorization. Doesn't the V1 tell you how many radar guns are targeting you anyway? I think I'll stick with the V1 and spend the extra $50 on something useful. Like coffee.

The V1 will pick up all the bands in the area and show you where each is coming from a the same time. Best choice IMO. |
I think Passport has a good concept here...we'll see how it works. False alerts suck whether you know they are false or not. I've started using my detector (V1 in the X5 and 8500 Blue in the Odyssey) only on the highway now to avoid falses...

Joel, you're going to need that V1 when you get your new 335 for sure! I love mine!
BTW - why don't you wait until the hardtop convertible version comes out? - best of both worlds! |

I really like the E93.. But it doesn't start shipping until March, so I'm sure there will be a backlog. I'm leaving for college in August and I want to be sure I have the car, and that it's broken in by then. At the time I decided on the E92, I hadn't even seen pictures of the convertible. I do love it though! |
