CV Boot Replacement

My front left CV boot ripped on my 2002 X5 spilling grease all over my rims. I did the temporally duct tape patch job which is hold so far. I have reviewed the online instructions for replacing the boot which looks to be a pin in the butt for just a little $18.00 part. So has anyone on this list replaced the boot yourselves or did you suck it up and spend the $$$$$ at a shop or dealer to fix it.:bawling:

Some of our finest members on this board did it but this is no easy job.

Changing the boot itself is simple, but if you need a new CV joint too, you're much better off going to the dealer or a mechanic.

I would not say changing the boot is easy Vin. It is not. It requires quite a bit of work.

It's a pain in the butt and needs some special tools that most don't own. It takes a while to do and if you are not doing it every day expect it to take longer.
