There is a problem.

It started two months ago, but it still annoys my dad and I. Whenever we are on the freeway accelerating faster, maybe up to 75, there is a buzzing noise coming from the front. We got worried, so we took the x5 to the dealership to check it out. They didn't know either. It happens a lot. Is there something wrong? I told my dad it was the wipers buzzing, but can't make a final verdict. What do you guys think?

Could be a million things, where is the noise coming from? Are you sure it isn't just tire or wind noise? And since BMW techs aren't going to drive your car at an illegal 75+mph, I'm sure they are not going to have a direct answer. Also, details on the X5...what year is it?

2006, and the noise is coming from the outside, vibrating sound.

Did you figure out what was causing the noise? I seem to have the same problem with my '05. On one very windy day though, the noise started at 65mph and went on and off as the wind gusts hit. So I know the noise is wind related but I'm not sure what part of the car is buzzing.

I had this with another car and it was the wipers...

What I would do;

make sure it is not raining or going to

tape your windwipers down to the windshield or if you are comfortable enough with the idea, remove the wiper blades from the arms

take it on the road, if the sounds is gone

take it to the dealer and have them re adjust the wipers on the window, either up or down (probably last one is better)

hope this helps you

other way is to drive at the speed when it starts vibrating, then wash your windshield, you should be able to confirm if the wipers were the prob.

Could also be a loose bit of trim on the underside. I had a similar situation with a noise from the rear - it was really noticeable at 80+mph. Thanks to another board, I found that there was aa trim pience on the rear bumper that had not been properly re-installed after I had my phone (pre-bluetooth) and DVD (pre pano roof) added at the dealer. They fixed it and the noise went away.

I must add that having the benefit of this boards and others like it really helps my Service Advisor. He now follows them regularly.

Another suggestion...

What mine was.

OK. My 4.4, 06', started whinning at about 1500mis. Took it in and here is the result:

" Evaporator drain tubes contacting driveshaft and transmit noise through cabin.
Test drove to verify complaint. Per SIB 64 18 05 Installed valves at end of both drains. Test drove again to verify noise no longer present.
Part 54-10-7-070-130."

Well it worked. No more noise. Not sure if this helps anyone else.
I will look up the part in BMW OEM.
