Pzero Rossos are an interesting choice of tires. They should definitely handle better than the Diamaris on pavement if that's what you had installed previously. They might wear alot faster however. They're a high performance street tire intended for passenger car applications.

I like them so much .. completely different when compared to the previous diamaris .. and they told me it can handle high tempratures here in saudi ... in summer sometimes we reach 50 degree C (122 degree Fahrenheit) .. and i got W rated tires (open speed) ... I still want to try them on highways ... i did not drive more than 120km/hr so far

EK,
What you described is typical of a tire/wheel change these days,
espc. the first run at it, with big wheels and with good clothes on.

I've had 2+ "flats" per tire on my old 18 style 69s, and a couple
in my new 19 132s; in all cases I was lucky and noticed the slowly
going flat situ, at home my garage. Thus, out comes the floor jack,
better lug wrench, etc. and I drag the wheel to the tire joint...
Even having swapped wheels and changed wheels and done a dozen
road side changes over the decades, I would not want to have to
wrestle/change the X on the shoulder of some road.

I suspect that's more than part of the RunFlatTire move that BMW
chose.

Otoh, congrats on your new set of tires!

To the original poster:

1. Do you think the BMW Mobility Kit would have helped you in this situation?
2. Why did't you use BMW Assist?
3. You mentioned using 2 rocks to block the wheels. Didn't your X5 come with 2 wheel chocks?
4. Since your car is on 19"'s and the spare was a 17", how did it ride?
5. A 19" temp spare might have been easier to wrestle than a 17" full size spare (though the dirty 19" would still be a huge pain). That is what I am going to do with my car.
6. Consider adding a few things to your car emergency kit. I've added
the following after learning the hard way many times.
- Rubber/latex gloves (2 pairs)
- Cloth gloves (wear the latex underneath the cloth and you'll keep
your hands dry, clean and relatively injury free)
- Poncho (to keep clean) or lab coat
- Purell hand cleaner
- The BMW Emergency Tire Tote (see attached). I think you can also
get it from Tire Rack.

Sorry you had a bad experience, hopefully the next one will be better.

The external diameter of the 19 and 17 inch tire/wheel combo is almost identical.

If you do this, I would be curious to see what you think about it afterwards. It shouldn't really be an issue.

To the last poster. Basically I'm equipping my trunk like an 'is model. The advantage is more trunk space and that's what I'm after. The downside is in the event of a flat the 19" flat tire will be a pain to put back in because I'll have to relocate the huge piece that covers the temp spare.

Since either a 17" full size or 19" temp size are only going to be on for a very short period of time and miles, I feel comfortable doing this. And as long as any tire is in the trunk the safety aspect is also preserved.

I have no idea about this kit... If you have a link plz give it to me

It is not available in Saudi Arabia

I got my car used. I did not see these chocks you are talking about. Do you hava their pic and part number?

I did not feel any difference. I only drove few kilometers and inside the city.
