Would you pass up a good deal on a car if you could not purchase the factory extended warranty?
or would you buy it and get and aftermarket warranty.

i think one of the main concerns is that it is nearing the end of the new car warranty and there is no extended warranty...

people would be more attracted to a car that comes with an OEM warranty to give themselves a secure mind, like when they purchase a car like the X5.

Your car is gorgeous and there's nothing wrong with it...i would buy it...but when you ask on this forum...many of us (at least the people that are active) already have an X5;). if i didn't already have the one i already have, i would seriously consider it. but some dealerships won't accept aftermarket warrantys and i guess that scares people...other than that, i agree with you that people are missing out on a great deal :thumbup:

Buy the X5 but get an aftermarket warranty. I have Mercury Select and I am quite happy with them. Mine cost $2,100.

please post comment expecially if you pick yes. I cannot believe that you guys are that dependent on a OEM warranty, keyword OEM. of course I dont do extended warranties on anything.

The voting on this poll is making me want to sell the truck even more, well I didnt want to sell it but, now I do. Is this thing going to explode on me in 6k more miles? gee

i would buy any BMW out of warranty as long as there are maintenance records.

Being able to DIY and forming a good relationship with a good, trustworthy independent BMW shop are keys to a good BMW ownership experience.

I've never owned a BMW with a warranty, they depriciate too much when they are new. But I also do all my own work, so I guess I'm in the minority here. I figure that one visit to a shop is the same amount of money as I need to buy the all diagnostic tools and manuals I need. And the cost of an extended warranty and any deductibles that would have to be paid out over a three year period buys a lot of new parts.
If its got good maintenance records, and if I was in the market for a 4.8is, I would sure consider it. :thumbup:

I have aftermarket warranty on my X5. I got the car with 85,000 miles. However I added 2.5k to it for 36,000 3/year warranty offered to me by Carmax.

I have yet to use the warranty although my heated seats, rear door doesn't open, and cold air from A/C are all problems for me. Waiting for another problem.
