Newbie's question
People mentioned staggered wheel from time to time. What exactly it means?
|
Staggered means the 2 rear wheels are wider in the back versus the front. For example my 19" staggered wheels are 10" in the back vs. 9.5" in the front.

Lbear,
Banana is right on: Here's how Style 132 19" staggered wheels look... GL,mD |
Also with staggered wheels you have the 'joy' of never being able to rotate your tires... :(
|
Thanks for your explanation and picture. I was thinking about different wheel pattern or something. :)
I guess it is still possible to do left and right tire rotation, isn't it? Using 19" staggered wheel as an example, what's the milage requirement to do tire rotation/replacement? |
i don't think left-right would do anything if you drive normally...
or unless your car is tilting to right or left, then you would be getting uneven wear...but that would be it... |
Holy crap just noticed your post total vs. your join date Xnsf, that's some crazy stuff. ;ot: sorry.

ummm...i have no clue then...but if they are abnormally wearing on one side of the tire, it wouldn't hurt to rotate i guess... |
That is because they have a -1.5 camber on them so that the car will handle better and not tend to drift on the freeway.
|
when it's negative...is it tilting in or out?

If I go 19" staggered 9"/10", which tires are recommeded? Currently my 2006 X5 3.0 has stocking 18" comes with sport package. How often do you replace your tires? |
Negative is pointing in at the top.

I replaced them at 30,000 miles. Fronts still had good tread left, rears were bald in the back from the negative camber. |
