X5 4.8is Suspension

Does anyone know if there is a way to default the suspension to the lowest setting all the time on a 2006 4.8is?

insofmarine 02-12-2007 08:36 PM

I don't think it can be done. It goes back to normal after 20mph or so. Maybe a dealer with their equipment can do it. At least, I have never heard of this being done.

LeMansX5 02-12-2007 08:42 PM

You can do it through dealer computer to default to low setting when parked, but it will still go up above 15mph. Few have done it on 4.8is. ;)

i remember seeing a kit to do this somewhere on this site

atillathetom 02-12-2007 09:23 PM

made by intrax

the gent with the Imola 4.8 has the kit...not cheap...

Do a search, there are several options including have the settings for normal adjusted lower by your dealer.

Yep, it is around $700 and fits inline with the electronics for the suspension. I looked into it, but it was jast-a-bit-too-mucho for me.

pull the fuse :)

AlpineMsix 02-12-2007 10:29 PM

ya i have the intrax over ride kit that over rides the suspension so it will stay in any setting even if ur going over 20mph it was expensive, but i wanted the slammed look with my 22s

Thanks Imola. Can you tell me where I can get it?

Also, what kind of wheels are those?

with the lower settings, do you have any increased negative camber/tire wear issues? I'd do the lower settings purely for freeway driving, but I'm wondering what the negative aspects of doing so are - ie tire wear, out of optimal range of suspension, etc etc.

I had a bmw tech lower the "normal" setting for me, i forget which program was used to do it though. I think maybe the DIS system??

Anyway, looks great and was free. Probably brought it down around an 1 or a little more. Then when I park I put it in "low" setting and then there is barely any wheel gap.

help us lazy surfers out and throw up some pics! Or links. I'm up in your area every once and awhile and will give the thumbs up if I drive by. Nice color and wheels
