It's STILL there?!?!

They told us to come drop off the Maxima and get a real loaner today. It'll be there till at least the 22nd. After which they need to start the car and troubleshoot another issue. It's good that all these issues are making themselves visible before the warranty runs out next year.

The X next to ours needs a new engine because his valve-cover gasket blew and the collected moisture hydro-locked his engine. Wonder what the ETA is on that..

Mine as well, I still don't have it back, it's been there a week now. . . I just got of the phone with my Service Advisor and he said they still haven't looked at it. This is getting Crazy. . . Is there anyone w/o warranty that got them to pay for this problem. . . Please advice.

Can we start some type of petition to take this up with BMW Corporate?? :explode:

FYI- My X5 with the oil sperator failure has 90K miles on it and BMW is paying for the repairs.

Yea right, that and $5 will get you a cup of coffe from BMW NA.

Apparently if you check your oil cap and find condensation, you may be a candidate for the problem. Dealers can install the oil seperator heater in those cases.

chefwong 02-19-2007 10:36 PM

Does anyone have a TSB # for this ?

X5Ghost 02-19-2007 11:28 PM

Mine has marks of water condensation under the cap (milky chocolate looking gew ... Dam ..
Mine is also out of warr @ 56K mi. What is this service called so I can contact the dealer and anyone knows how much it cost?

BimmerDude 02-20-2007 01:15 AM

But I don't have condensation on my cap??? They told me that this is what BMW says will help stop this problem.... Maybe its a "before it happens" fix... What ever it is, I'm glad they put it on. I can tell it helps already on cold start ups... I'm going to take pics as soon as I get my camera back from my girl....
